Commute by bike in Overland Park, Kansas. I ride ~2,500 miles a year, all year long. I kept following links to the company’s site and they still don’t really show the hat covered helments on people’s heads…

I wear a big hat with a wide brim to keep the sun off my eyes, ears and neck and can keep rain off my eyes.

I’d love it if someone in the U.S. would/could make a reasonably-priced helmet that would combine my hat with the safety features of a helmet.

Bad news, Keef, a poster from an Australian forum at http://bicycles.net.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11186 pointed out that the “Grippy fabric or fur helmet cover…. not going to meet current Australian Standard for helmets, creates a head rotation hazard.”

I didn’t disagree.

I observed, “I can see where turning your head to check out the fur-wearing model might be a hazardous head rotation if a spouse or Significant Other was present to observe the swivel.”
